Let's start with this:
Why us? Because it's
not about us.

What initially sets us apart from most clothing companies out there is that we know that the show isn't about us. Don't get us wrong. We are loved and we are called into creation. We're not mere slaves: God gave us names for a reason! But in a world where we all self-focus, we are reminded of a kingdom where the least are the greatest and where loving our neighbor is more important than status. A Different Kind of Kingdom strives to show this in every aspect, even in the very way we're built: ADKK isn't just an apparel company, it's an umbrella of multiple projects with a common goal of helping people have a great relationship with their Creator and to know the Image they were made in. When the focus is off of us, that's when we're most empowered to create and lead the way that we were born to.

Designed different.

We understand the importance of message. What we wear sends a message, it talks about what we believe about both ourselves and those around us. Expression isn't a curse, it's a blessing, but like any blessing, it can be used either to build or to destruct. Our clothes are always designed with message in mind and to get the most important message out before it's too late. You were created for a reason, for something greater, and uncoincidentally, so are our clothes.
Not your average t-shirt.

Made different.

We believe that things must be made in a way that is good: good according to God, good for our neighbors, good for the planet, and good for us. What we make showcases that:
  • Good message: What we wear is one of the greatest ways we can express ourselves. Many times we humans don't even think twice about that. Our clothes are designed with balance: to bring out natural beauty while still preserving what should be preserved for its proper place, so that you can feel fashionable about what you're wearing without having to worry, without going to extremes. And any messages on our clothes are designed to remind us how we are made in the image of God and how to live that out.
  • Good working conditions: We are very selective in who we partner with to help manufacture our clothes, and where feasible we even do things ourselves to be able to know exactly how things we sell are made. We only partner with manufacturers that pay their employees reasonable wages and allow them to work reasonable hours, and we refuse to partner with slave labor or human trafficking. Where possible, we choose audited partners and are transparent about exactly where your clothes are coming from.
  • Good for your health: We very carefully select the materials we use in our clothes so that they promote and do not malign your health. Many people nowadays are unaware that the materials used on their skin every day can have such an impact. We are especially transparent about the materials we use and we prioritize time-tested materials known to be better for health, especially preferring natural organic ones, while making sure that any recycled or synthetic fibers used are well-established too.
  • Good for the Earth: We very carefully select the materials we use in our clothes and we also carefully look into how those materials were generated. Beyond marketing, the process used to collect a material can greatly impact whether a material is environmentally sustainable or not. We prioritize natural materials that are collected and generated in processes as close to nature as possible to avoid harmful chemicals, deforestation, and waste of natural resources. We avoid microplastics and plastic waste.
  • Not made to break: We do our best to manufacture our items in a manner that is designed to last and we even upcycle clothing where possible. We can't promise that our clothes will last forever (they won't), but we are intentional in our designs for them so that they should hopefully live a long life and be able to share many good memories with you for times to come. Specifically, we reject the fast fashion mindset and making things designed to break.

What We Mean: Makers

Human Hours

Many clothing manufacturing facilities impose unhealthy hours on their workers. We partner with partners known for allowing reasonable hours, who work for positive change, and who beat out competitors in fair labor practices.

Human Wages

Many clothing manufacturing facilities pay their workers the bare minimum possible to be able to keep them working. We only partner with partners known for fair wages and for beating out competitors in fair labor practices.

Human Vision

What our work begins with is recognizing the innate "Imago Dei" every single human being was designed with and born with. We make sure our partners aim to put this into practice and we make sure to practice it with them too.

Human Investing

Not only do we partner with the best large-scale clothing manufacturers we can find, but many of our partners are independent manufacturers and we invest in helping first-time owners launch their manufacturing ventures.

What We Mean: Materials

(Organic) Cotton

Cotton is one of the most time-tested materials available, and our organic cotton goes even further by improved standards on how the cotton is grown and collected. Get ready for comfy, aesthetic clothes you can feel truly great about!

Bamboo

Bamboo in general is trendy, but the process used to produce it can make all the difference for whether it is good for you and the Earth or not. We carefully select the bamboo we use accordingly and it is known for being breathable and soft.

Flax (Linen)

Often called "nature's luxury fabric", linen, made from flax, is one of the most traditional materials out there and yet is famous for being eco-friendly, comfortable, and especially breathable. It requires less water to produce than cotton.

Hemp

Hemp is incredibly eco-friendly as it requires very little water to grow and yet grows quickly. It also doesn't require many harsh chemicals to turn into usable clothes fibers. It's comfortable, and we're thankful to get to use it in our products.

Reusing

We live in a world filled with synthetic materials that in many ways are "here to stay". We avoid putting more out there, and carefully reuse or upcycle those already here to preserve the environment and still get a fashion statement out of them.

What We Mean: Message

Building Life

We believe in the power of something as simple as clothes changing the world, and that for the better when it has God's blessing. Thus our clothes are designed, both in their aesthetic and in the messages present on them and their packaging, to remind us of our hope, identity, purpose, and life.

Building Balance

In a shaken-up world, people are again racing to extremes. We've built a brand on balance. Our clothes are visually appealing and modest at the same time. You won't have to worry about either them not looking good or them being too revealing - we aim to strike the perfect balance between the sides.

Good For You

We've toiled to build collections that meet the needs of both comfort and aesthetic. Our clothes are clothes you can feel great in - both in terms of their appearance and in terms of the comfort. You should get to love wearing what you choose to wear, and we want to make that a reality for you!

Good For Them

We've struck a balance so that the clothes that serve as a fashion statement and that you love to wear aren't only for yourself. Our clothes are made in a way that doesn't go to the extremes, but that does respect modesty to promote dignity and to be a positive influence on those around you too.

We know our "why".

Impacting different.

Because of the differences that characterize A Different Kind of Kingdom's creative processes, its impact is different too. We aren't a clothes business, we're a people organization that happens to make clothes. And the way we measure our impact is accordingly. We seek to put a smile on each customer's face, but we measure impact not only in more than dollars, but even in more than reviews. We seek to make a positive impact on people's hearts and minds, not just on the business.
From the moment I first saw that t-shirt, I knew I had to have it! The God-centered message, the customer service, and the creativity all made a difference for me.

A Different Kind of Kingdom to me is more than a brand, it's a worldview. I got to meet the founders personally and knowing that they truly see things through that lens makes me even more excited to be a part of what they are doing.
